I am a UK-trained cardiothoracic Spr with subspeciality interest in advanced heart failure and cardiac transplantation. I am interested in combining science and surgery with focus on heart regeneration by utilising stem cells-based therapies. Currently, I am undertaking a stem-cell based PhD in Dr.Sanjay Sinha's lab to investigate the feasibility of cell therapy to regenerate the chronically, failing heart. The study is conducted via in vitro 3D-engineered heart tissues and in vivo rodent models of heart attack and heart failure, in order to answer the mechanistic underpinnings of the cellular-directed 'functional rescue' of the failing heart.
